After the overwhelming support for MAC’s collection in memory of singer Selena Quintanilla, Aaliyah’s fans set up their own petition to honour Aaliyah in the same way. Releasing today, at the height of a ’90s comeback, MAC Cosmetics’ latest limited-edition collection has been years in the making. Thanks to the relentless petitioning of adoring fans, R&B icon Aaliyah is finally being honored with a 12-piece edit of lipsticks, eyeshadows and glosses inspired.
Share with your friends! After trying the lipstick and lipliner from the first MAC and Patrick Starrr collaboration I knew I needed to get something from the second collaboration. For the second collaboration they released the MAC x Patrick Starrr Me So Chic Full Face Kit and another called Me So Fleek which I skipped due to the blue eyeshadow in the quad. About the MAC x Patrick Starrr Collaboration As I previously mentioned, this kit is from the second collaboration between MAC and Patrick Starrr, a beauty YouTuber. The first collaboration consisted of two eye shadow quads, three lipsticks, three lipglasses in matching shades, three lip liners in similar shades, and a setting powder. There is also a third collaboration which includes another face kit and an opalescent powder that can be purchased separately. The second collaboration features two face kits with one being more neutral, Me So Chic, and one being a bit bolder, Me So Fleek.
Both kits in the second collaboration feature an eye shadow quad, a powder blush duo, a lipstick, and a lipglass. The MAC x Patrick Starrr Me So Chic set can be purchased at, and for $49.50.
Powder Blush Duo The first product in the MAC x Patrick Starrr Me So Chic kit is the powder blush duo named “I’m Not Blushing”. The Powder Blush duo comes in a pink a baby pink compact with a floral design on the front and Patrick’s signature in white laid over that.

Inside the compact there is a golden trim around the inner edge of the compact and a mirror. Overall, I felt like the packaging for the Powder Blush Duo felt cheap and came off feeling like “play” makeup, if you know what I mean. The Powder Blush is a split pan compact that contains half a pan of a satin blush in a peach shade (the top color in the compact photo and the left swatch in the above photo) and half a pan of a matte blush in a bronze shade (the bottom color in the compact photo and the right swatch in the above photo). The total weight of product is 10 grams so I’m assuming that each shade is 5 grams. I personally liked the two shades in this duo, I’m wearing them in the video above, and I liked that they came as a duo for those of us who may never go through a full bronzer/contour/blush/highlight product. Lipglass The second product in the MAC x Patrick Starrr Me So Chic kit is the Lipglass named “Mamastarrr Kiss”.
The Lipglass comes in a clear, hard plastic bottle with the same flower motif from the top of the blush compact, but without the signature, wrapped around it (you can actually see a seam from where the left edge meets the right edge if that bothers some). The cap of the Lipglass is the same baby pink from the compact but it has Patrick’s Signature in white.
Besides the seam of the edges meeting on the bottle I actually really liked the packaging for the Lipglass. Mamastarrr Kiss is a sheer nude Lipglass with pearl in it. This is one of the Lipglasses that I like to say is just meant to add dimension and body to the lips without applying any real color. Some like that and some don’t, I’m one of the ones that actually does. Plus when the Lipglass is worn without lipstick it actually conditions the lips which I like. Lipstick The third product in the MAC x Patrick Starrr Me So Chic kit is the lipstick named “Sweet Mamastarrr”. The lipstick comes in the typical MAC bullet lipstick shape but in the same baby pink as the rest of the collection instead of the typical black.
The same floral motif from the Lipglass bottle wraps around the bottom of the lipstick bullet but this time there isn’t a visible seam which kind of makes the seam on the Lipglass all the worse. Similar to the Lipglass the lipstick has Patrick’s signature in white on the lid. The inside of the bullet that holds the lipstick is gold instead of the usual silver which allows a sliver of gold to peek through between the cap and the bottom. Sweet Mamastarrr is neutral pink in the Amplified formula, which is an ultra-creamy formula. I mention in the video that if you have darker pigmentation to your lips then this would probably make a great “Your Lips But Better” shade. Whether it’s an YLBB or not this shade is gorgeous, creamy, and lasts for a few hours on the lips. Eye Shadow Palette The last product in the MAC x Patrick Starrr Me So Chic kit is the Eye Shadow Palette called “Stay With Me” which is a quad with actual normal quad size shadows in it!

The bottom of the quad and the trim on the lid of the quad is the same baby pink as the rest of the collection, while the inside of the quad is the same gold as the inside of the lipstick bullet. The rest of the lid of the quad is clear plastic with the same flower motif and signature as the blush compact.
If you look closely, not at the picture but at the lid in real life, you can actually see that this is just a sticker laid into the plastic, like you can see the outline of the sticker and everything. The first of the four shades in the Stay With Me Quad is “Daddystarrr” which is listed as a muted baby pink with pearl and is a matte formula. This shade works well as both a lid shade, if you don’t always have to have a cream shade that is, and as a starting crease shade or buffing shade.
It blends well with the other shadows and doesn’t have any fallout that I could discern. The second shade is “Yesss” which is listed as a midtone dusty violet and is the veluxe pearl formula. Due to the veluxe pearl formula this shade has a lot of fallout that tends to click to the shadow and doesn’t exactly fall to the cheek, it just kind of clings to itself. However if you do the pat-pat application method when applying it kind of fixes itself. The third shade is “Queen Patrick” which is listed as a bright purple shade and is a frost finish. This shadow works very well but does have some fallout so you’re going to want to either tap that brush, wear some eye gels or shadow shields, or do your foundation last when working with this one. The last shade is “Bon Nuit” which is a black purple and is a matte formula.
This one works great in the outer crease and performs amazing on the eye. The fallout you get with this depends on how ham you go into the pan with your brush. Go all in and get a lot of fallout, go in with a gentle caress and you’ll be rewardedthis just got awkward. Final Thoughts on MAC x Patrick Starrr Me So Chic Do I think you should get the MAC x Patrick Starrr Me So Chic set?
I don’t know, let me ask you a few questions. Are you cruelty free only? Then stay away.
Do you not like Patrick Starrr and are AVID that you will not support him? Then again, stay away. Are you looking for an ACTUAL purple palette in what is supposed to be the year of purple? Then RUN to this collection while it’s still in stock! Not only will you get the palette but you’ll also get a lipstick and lipglass even if the blush and bronzer aren’t your thing. I highly recommend picking this up while it’s still in stock but if you’re on the fence then I suggest maybe waiting until it goes into the Goodbyes section for up to 40% off.
